Over time, the positive effects of switching from conventional to LED lighting technologies become clear. Significant savings in maintenance and servicing costs are seen as attractive added value. At the same time, the modernization of public lighting makes a significant contribution to climate protection.

Digitalization and the Internet of Things (IoT) are having a significant impact on the development of street lighting. This development encompasses several aspects that together have led to a smarter, more energy-efficient and more user-friendly infrastructure. A key goal of digitalization and IoT integration in street lighting is to improve energy efficiency. Traditional streetlights, which were often powered by incandescent or sodium vapor lamps, are increasingly being replaced by LED lights. These LEDs are not only more energy efficient, but also have a longer service life.

By integrating IoT technologies, these luminaires can be operated even more efficiently. They enable the illuminance to be adjusted to daily requirements via central control systems. With luxData.control, the extension module is now also available for luxData.easy, which can manage luminaires from a wide range of manufacturers from a single application. Which data is managed depends heavily on the manufacturer. The interface to esave, for example, facilitates the rapid implementation of master data, status data and faults in luxData.easy.

The benefits are clearly in the foreground here: we have taken the communication protocols of devices from a wide range of luminaire manufacturers and integrated them into luxData.control. The control and, in principle, the reaction to events of all managed lighting points can be mapped together using luxData.easy. This also allows actions to be triggered, such as reports on the reported status values of the luminaires. You also save yourself the time-consuming familiarisation with various control programmes and benefit from the simple management in luxData.easy.

The main functions include:

  • Retrieve luminaire data: luxData.control makes it possible to retrieve detailed information about the connected luminaires. This includes parameters such as the current operating status, technical luminaire data, brightness, energy consumption and other specific data recorded by the luminaires. This enables operators to gain precise insights into the performance and condition of each individual luminaire.
  • Check the status of the installations: With our solution, you can monitor the overall status of your lighting installations. This includes information on the functionality of all components, current energy consumption and any anomalies. A comprehensive overview of the status of the entire system helps you to plan maintenance work efficiently and minimise downtimes.
  • Switching programmes/dimming profiles: Our system offers the option of sending switching commands to individual luminaires or groups of luminaires. This is automated, based on preset schedules or sensor information. Flexible control of the lighting can reduce energy costs and extend the service life of the luminaires.
  • Load energy data: Recording and analysing energy data is a key component of our product. Operators can call up data on the energy consumption of their lighting systems, making it easier to identify potential savings and optimise energy use. This data can also be used to create energy forecasts and monitor compliance with energy standards.
  • Detecting faults: Our system enables faults in the lighting system to be recognised and reported at an early stage. Operators receive notifications about problems that have occurred, such as failed luminaires or communication errors, after each autosync interval. The rapid identification and rectification of faults can increase operational reliability and reduce unplanned downtimes.
  • Switching on and off: In addition to the option of sending detailed control commands, luxData.control also offers simple functions for switching the lighting on and off. This basic control is manual and is particularly useful for maintenance work and emergency situations.

Thanks to its flexibility and compatibility with various control system manufacturers, luxData.control offers a customised solution for efficient and effective lighting control. Whether for small installations or large lighting networks, our system helps operators to manage their lighting intelligently, save costs and increase operational reliability.

Intelligent street lighting systems can react to current conditions and adapt the lighting accordingly. They are revolutionising urban infrastructure with numerous advantages. Firstly, they contribute to considerable energy savings by dynamically adapting the lighting to current requirements. This leads to a noticeable reduction in operating costs. In addition, they promote environmental protection by reducing CO2 emissions. Intelligent street lighting systems increase road safety and reduce the crime rate by adjusting the light intensity according to the situation. The option of remote monitoring and control enables more efficient maintenance and control, which saves additional costs and time. All in all, luxData.control provides you with an overall view of your intelligent street lighting systems and supports you in your daily work.
